TV Chef Gordon Ramsay is returning to the screen this month for a new season of his ultimate kitchen show, Kitchen Nightmares.
The show sees Ramsay help, lambast, insult, swear at and as some have said bully more restaurateurs (lambs to the slaughter?) across the United States so that these budding restaurateurs / lambs get a better perspective on their restaurants, their kitchen, their staff but also their menus and themselves as managers, chefs and owners.
In this series, the fourth so far, Gordon first travels to the ‘Spanish Pavillion’ in Harrison, New Jersey. This family-run business in the Newark area made famous by the Sopranos is operated by brothers Michael and Jerry who according to the press releases of the show have allowed their differences to compromise the quality of the restaurant.
If quarrelling owner brothers wasn’t bad enough for the business, an absentee head chef and an unhappy staff has been thrown in for good measure and Gordon aims to help the brothers transform their menu to keep the family business afloat.
In giving restaurateurs the best advice possible, Gordon Ramsay has one clear recipe for success. “Whether you’re playing hockey or you’re an amazing basketball player or you want to sprint for your country in the 2012 Olympics, the bloody training that goes on behind the scenes is phenomenal and cooking is exactly the same. You must, must, must master your craft.”
Kitchen Nightmares airs Fridays at 8pm on FOX and perhaps Gordon can offer the US restaurateurs more than a cosmetic make over for which he himself has been widely reported as having done to his hair in a bid to keep the US show alive
