Kbb News – Canterbury-based retailer Herringbone has rebranded itself to Herringbone House, in a move which coincides with the opening of its new four-storey showroom.
Herringbone House says that its new showroom overlooking Canterbury Cathedral allows the business to show a wider breadth of work, which includes more than just kitchen designs. The new showroom now includes a range of products, such as tables, bars, wardrobes, bathroom storage, dressers, utility rooms, entertainment units, boot rooms and wine rooms.
The Herringbone House showroom was designed by in-house interior designer Martyna Nicolson, who worked with a brief to have the building serve as an entertaining space, which Herringbone believes pushes the traditional boundaries of what a showroom should be.
Social spaces within the showroom reportedly include a large bar, a library and a “secret wine room”. According to the retailer, some parts of the building have been designed to feel like visiting a friend’s home, whilst other areas have been designed to feel like a luxury hotel space.
Herringbone House says the building’s first-floor space can be rented out as an event space. The top two floors will also be used as rooms to rent in the near future, with plans to offer them out to clients starting next year.
“We are very proud to be marking the next phase for Herringbone by opening Herringbone House,” said William Durrant, owner of Herringbone House, “Our new studio showcases just how great our team is at all we do; everything here has been designed and made by us, including the sofas and tables.
“We have created an inviting space that is not like anything seen before in the industry. The large bar we have feels more like a luxury hotel than a kitchen studio and happens to now be my favourite bar in Canterbury. The studio sits in the heart of Canterbury, right across from the Cathedral with its historic views.
Being in Canterbury was very important to us, although most of our projects are in London, Canterbury is home for us, it’s where we first began and where our workshop is. To be able to do all this over the last 10 years, without compromising on our design, craftmanship and environmental ethos is something that we are very proud of.”
In addition to the rebrand and Herringbone House opening, the retailer is also celebrating its 10th anniversary in 2024.
Herringbone made headlines in the KBB industry earlier this year by becoming the first retailer to publicly announce they were refusing to sell high-silica surface products.
